For several hours, the road corridor that connects the municipality of El Zulia with Sardinata was closed due to the presence of an explosive device in the sector known as the Y of Astilleros.
The Thirtieth Brigade of the National Army was present at the scene, which located and destroyed in a controlled manner the military elements abandoned by insurgents in the place.
Colonel Jhon Edward Guerra Manso, acting commander of the Thirtieth Brigade, said that
“The military were alerted by the residents of the suspicious presence of a trash can a few meters from the road. The area was immediately secured and when the first validations were carried out, it was possible to confirm that it was an explosive and a control cable."
He also stressed that “the handling of explosive devices of the National Army was entered at the point, who carried out the controlled detonation.”
There were no effects on the civilian population or on the troops who were stationed in the area. In this case, a robot operated by uniformed officers was used, who developed the controlled destruction and after this, mobility in the area was reactivated.
